31 December 2010

2010 is finally coming to a close! hmm, it has been a great year for me with its ups and downs. actually kinda sad that 2010 had to end T.T

time to do some reflection on the past year yo~

2010 seemed like a really long year for me. so many things had happened it felt like 2 years had past instead of one. other than it being a very happening and busy year, i also met lots of people and made alot of unexpected friends.

the beginning of the year was one hell of a hectic semester. impre meetings, publicity, canvassing... all this built up to the highlight of my first sem... GRAND FINALS. i just realised i never really got the chance to blog about grand finals. hmm, grand finals was very eventful yet abit regretful for me. for GF, i was the stage manager. i rmb that week leading to GF was absolutely exciting, i was so busy i even had a 3 days 2 night camp in sch. one night camping in my friends hall and the other night sleeping in nanyang audi itself =.= the rest of the days i reached sch about 10am and left school abt 11pm. exciting much?

haha, there were lots of hiccups during rehearsals and all, contestants unable to make it in time for rehearsal, a certan OC contestant trying to shua dua pai with us by refusing to come for rehearsals, sound system had lots of glitches, LED boards not functioning properly, those sound engineers giving us attitude. thinking back, seeing that i din crumble under that pressure was a miracle.

programmers really worked round the clock, slogging it out, trying to iron everything out before the actual day. settling all the screen, subtitle problems, lighting sequence, backstage makeup timing, programme flow, setting up of the equipment for the sand art performance. KUDOS to all!! i rmb the night before we had our debrief at about 11pm? then after, we each carried on to finish up our own stuff. aroun 3 plus am i was still ironing out all the details for the programme flow. (programme flow was 28 pages long >.<) by the time we were done, it was around 4am and some of us who had packed to stay overnight were too tired to go back to the hall. so, we just slept around nanyang audi. yes, just on the chairs, floor, stage, anywhere. haha. we were supposed to have a briefing with the rest of the comm people at about 9 or 10am. so we all woke at about 8am, went back to the halls to bathe and met up again.

then, hell started. arrival of contestants, prepping them for the show, make up, meal times, doing the last rehearsals, guest performers arrival... the only happy thing and exciting thing about being stage mag was probably cuz i get to liaise with derrick hoh! haha, to chk if the mics, lightings all these were alright for his performance and all, tell the manager what time to report back. it was a cool experience. derrick hoh seemed much like a boy then but now, looking at his recent mv, he's a grown man o.o

then the shua da pai OC contestant came in late for the final sound check and resulted in us opening the doors late for entry. the late opening of doors reflected quite badly and that was my first setback for the day. after which, the show started!!

i'm so glad that the emcees from yes93.3fm were very professional and they helped to ease the tension alot. the atmosphere became more lighthearted and just as i was about the heave a sigh of relief, something major cropped up.

order of performance was OC, Vocal group, guest performer(kewei), sand art, Vocal solo, dance and lastly a performance by derrick. at about the 3rd performer for OC, the sound system had some problem. yes, the shua da pai one. but after while it was fixed by themselves and they performed. after that, they came behind and was telling us that the keyboard had no sound, how can we take so long to send someone to help them etc. so we apologised and fine. wave one over.

then the vocal group category was up. the second or third grp was using instruments as well and to our horror, we found out that there was no sound!! in order to fix this glitch we took about 45 minutes?? kudos to the emcees who tried to help us cover up all this time. at first we thought it was due to insufficient power or the overpower that caused the system to blow but later we found out that it was because of the shua da pai grp that plugged their stuff into our amps and mixed up all the settings. because of this delay, our programmer was seriously delayed and screwed. we over run by about an hour and this was bad. when it was time for break, derrick had arrived to begin his preparations and get ready but the room that set aside for him was being used to serve the sponsors and VIPs refershments!! derrick was supposed to arrive after the break but due to the delay, he arrived early. in the end, the few of us had to scramble around to cordon off an area in the back stage waiting rooms for him to wait. i think that would have reflected quite badly on us. i still remember emphasizing to the manager to be on time. =.=

during kewei's performance, the guitar had no sound but that was cuz her guitar was low on battery. nevertheless they still put up a great performance.

after the break, was sooooo glad that the sand art went on without any problems. we worried alot about that segment initially cuz of the many equipments and the video was not working properly the day before as well.

second half went on very smoothly but no matter how we cut, we were still about 45min overrun. program was supposed to end about 10 to 10.30 pm but it dragged to about 11pm. some ppl could be seen leaving after the break or right after derrick's performance to catch the last train which was quite sad.

by the time, it was the closing ceremony with the committee coming out to bow, many ppl were leaving. but i'm glad my friends and family stayed on and cheered for me =] i love you guys! during break time, i almost burst into tears when i rcv the msg from my mum that i was doing a great job so far. but i couldn;t cry cuz there were still many things to be done and i still had a second half so i sucked all the tears back in. zihui also sent me lots of encouraging msg like she enjoyed the show and all. after the show, i had much sweet msg from my friends saying that i did a good job. i was soo touched. after the show ended, i heaved a sigh of relief as i thanked all the performers and helped to clean up the stage. somehow, a part of me knew that it wasn't up to my expectations and i felt a little regretful that i couldn't end my impre2010 experience with a bang. anyways, its over! by the time we were done packing up it was already like 2am, majority of our committee ordered macs and just slept outside nanyang audi while waiting for it to come. haha. i practically went into concussion that i din even wake up when the food came. yak ann still did a clavicle pinch to chk if i was asleep or fainted =.= left for home at about 9am the next day.

that pretty much wraps up my beginning of the year. haha, once i start i just feel that i need to get everything off my chest. muuuuuch better!

this year seemed to be a year of idols for me too! other than many kpop idols came to SG, i was also quite crazy (must be the stress levels) ^^

from beginning of the year, i won tix to the zuno fansign at IMM but cuz it clashed with my exam period, i couldn't go =( then it was the JYJ showcase in october!! DA BOMB!! to be able to see 3/5 of dong bang like that was a dream come true and i kept true to my promise that i must see them sing live at least once in my life! all the hype, i think i've alrdy spazzed much in my previous post. but i think one of the more memorable part was camping in school to get tickets and realizing that our sch internet was so lousy that it crashed when we try to enter the website. :S haha. lastly, i went to see kim hyun joong at TM in dec before exams started. my god, i never expected myself to be such a fangirl. LOL.

my holidays this year was also fruitful and exciting! i went back indo and caught up with all the relatives, worked at serangoon broadway and met fellow uni students phyu, li jun, vinnie, kelly, shenglong, yongnan (this reminds me that we still have an overdued lunch date. haha. i rmb all the times when we gossipped over eating tau huay or cafe cartel. we ended work at 9pm at times so we were abit crazy at night. haha. and all the bitching while doing roadshow! we really entertained ourselves then. a bunch of fun and great people!) then, i volunteered for YOG and was allocated to team F. met people like my partner colin(the over friendly guy WAHAHA), sinyee, fang ling, grace, mr koh, huda, wadi and wanning. yet another bunch of fun loving people! and ended my hols with CAC FOC and all my niece and nephews in Ingram!! as i typed all these, i realised there are alot of things that i haven been updating. OOPS.

anyways, with the start of yr 2, i busied myself with lots of things again. so much for not re-running impre2011, i'm still as busy =.= I joined social and welfare comm and organized our very first program of the year, members night, had some crazy modules and super heavy load of 24aus for the sem, joined as subcomm for drumzout, impre2011 and foc2011 and lastly, ended my year by joining mykplayground as an admin.

this year, i also officially became a twitter addict (condition worsened when JYJ each made a twitter account as well! >.< yoochun made his account on 16 oct 2010! which was the night when they performed in singapore!!) but thru twitter, i also made new friends! E.g, yukitty from japan, fidah from america and some other dbsk fans where we will talk thru twitter. think its rather cool to be able to converse with other people from other countries this way.

for now, i'm currently packing my room to a new start! Hope 2011 will be an even better year with new encounters!!

P.S: it would be nice to have someone by my side as i celebrate my 21st birthday too! hurhur.

Girl's night out!

hahahaha! we looked dumb trying to take ourselves i guess. but anyways, it was a GREAT NIGHT! laughing, talking and walking too. LOL.

finally managed to meet up with the girls after like soooooo long. lots of things happened in between but our relationship will not change! ^^ ate dinner at sushi tei~ yummy~~

no matter how often i meet up with my current course mates and all, nothing ever beats the time spent with these ladies. always find it super amazing how we can dun meet up for so long but still have endless topics to talk about once we meet each other.

even the niao-ings come out so naturally, like an instinct! hahaha. LOVE YOU GALS!! later on we were tricked to walk back to tampines interchange but well, it was nice walking at night and taking in the night breeze. speaking of which i seriously need to get my ass moving and exercise. hahahaha. looking forward to our singing date next week! first date of 2011 =]

Christmas 2010

This year's christmas i spent it with my family ^^ no countdowns no nothing. just some nice family time after neglecting them for over a month due to my exams.

on the 24th, we went to watch Tron Legacy. it wasn't really planned. we had wanted to watch Narnia but we were left with the 4th row from the front so we changed shows.

erm... the show was.... okayy la. i think the storyline and all is alrdy there but the way they edit the film makes the viewer unable to take in the full effects of the show. Basically the movie is talking about the son going into the video game reality to save his father who has been trapped inside for almost 20 years. it plays around with the idea of humans actually being able to create a new world of our own and playing god. but of course, that is not possible and something has to happen to screw the whole system up. plot there but skills... need to work on it.

after the show, my dad said he'll bring us to someplace new! we proceeded to serangoon, bottle tree village to eat. the route in was super ulu. it reminded me of the streets in indonesia. yea, no lamplights and there was only a narrow road path in. a little like the road in to Sarimbun camp. but when we reached inside, the atmosphere was clean and the air was fresh. it was beside the beach so its a very good place to go when u just wanna relax and chill =] However, it'll be quite difficult to enter the place if u dun have a car, i doubt many taxi drivers will know their way in either.

we ordered the chinese style though. the food was pass-able. the only thing that was above average was the fish head steamboat. saw alot of ppl eating their chilli crab but we din feel like eating crab. maybe next time den try ^^

on Christmas day itself, we went to watch Narnia, Voyage of the dawn treader!

this show was MUCH MUCH better than tron. there were better humour, amazing sets and intriguing storyline! u really have to watch it yourself to be amazed and taken in by all of narnia's beauty. its kinda sad that Edmund and Lucy won't be returning to Narnia anymore but Eustas is quite a funny addition to the chronicles. looking forward to seeing him have an adventure of his own! it was exciting right to the very last moment. and funny event of the day? u shud have seen the speed of me and my sis taking off to the toilet IMMEDIATELY when the credits started to roll. hahahaha. its a nice show =]

with the magical land of Narnia, my christmas went and bye. i wouldn't say its a lonely christmas cuz i was still with my loved ones. but it'll be nice if i have a special someone next to me in the following christmas :D

081210 Walking with Dinosaurs

Photobucket
went to catch the show on 8 dec with dad, sis and god brothers =] mum was in indonesia so she missed it. i've always been fascinated with dinosaurs since i was young. really! i even wanted to become an archeologist or paleontologist cuz of my obsession with them.

to see the dinosaurs upclose was really "WOW" and the mere size of them was "WOW WOW" especially when T-rex came out, it was HUGE! some of the children sitting in front of us had to leave the stadium cuz they were too scared.

i acty thought they were going to make it like a show e.g Jurassic Park but acty it was more of a LIVE documentary. it was quite cool i guess. its like u are acty living in those times. so i'll just let the pictures do the talking =]

took a couple of good vids too but the file is really too big (its in HD format) so it'll take really long to upload onto youtube. if i ever get it up (which is a really really low percentage), i MAY consider putting it up here again. HAHAHA.

anyway, recently i've begun to watermark my pics. if its in regards to a show/performance or some kind of artists (esp if its well taken) it'll be watermarked. so i dun see my photos loitering on the internet and being claimed by someone else. dun mind ah. if u personally know me u can always get the pics frm me though =]=]

i tried this watermarking software for the first time and somehow it made my photos have an ugly cross mark on it but i'm too lazy to redo it cuz that means i need to re-edit the photos and its =.= so i'll just leave it for now. the next batch of photos den i see how.

with that, Walking with Dinosaurs came to a beautiful closure. I was glad to have been able to experience this. the technology is amazing and the dinosaurs were absolutely breathtaking!
