Singapore Philatelic Museum outing with PCF 738 children

today i went to SPM with my mum and her centre children. this is my 2nd time there and i think this trip was a much more fruitful wan. i learned much about stamps like, "did u know that the first stamp was introduced in 1840, 169 years ago with Queen Victoria (the Black Queen of England) as the picture and was called penny black?" at the age of 54, Queen Victoria's husband died and from then on, she decided that she'll only wear black to mourn for him and died at an age of 83. dunno right??!! haha.

the guide Uncle Joseph was quite an old man already, like 60 or 70 plus? but he was bursting with energy, telling us stories and explaining with zest. he just has so much passion for his job. the children were also so highly entertained by him. its not easy to catch the attention of 40 plus kindergarten students for so long you know.

i must say that i was really impressed and inspired by him. the way he teaches and approaches is so entertaining and interactive! he could play chapteh and spinning top really really well too. it seems like he just has so much of his life experience to share, so much that he wants to give. after the trip i just could not help but go and take the brochures to see what other activities they had. he inspired me to want to learn more from the museum and be do a part in preserving singapore's culture.

so, i decided!! i'm going to enquire what are the duties and commitments of a volunteer at the museum and i'm going to volunteer my service there! i think i can really lead a meaningful life by learning so much more about culture, history and simply immersing myself in the arts. =] i too, want to be really passionate for something and i hope this will be it. =] besides, i've always been interested in how curators etc. help to conserve the heritage pieces, like damaged artifacts. i wonder if i'll be able to get a glimpse into it if i become a volunteer.

acty, i took some videos of uncle joseph and the children's reactions but i too lazy to upload the vids. haha.

the children were really quite fun and nothing serious happened tdy (phew!). there was this Randall that was really cute! he just kept rambling on and on and he's really smart too! its interesting to hear the children call u teacher and when they've done something good, they will like, "teacher, see see!! nice?" (cuz they had some drawing activity).

i think i have a kinda stern face too. cuz there was this boy who was disturbing others and i just talked to him den he like very scared like dat. haha, sry ah, ah boy. din mean to frighten u... lol.

ok, i know i've been bumming around for too long. but no ok! i acty stayin at home help my mum with admin stuff den sat got work for kidsread programme. den also do some planning for ybc camp...

but anyway, i finally have something to do from 23rd to 27th feb!! haha, got 1 week attachment at NUH, Department of Diagnostic imaging. so fun!!! whee~~~~~ exciting!!
